savannah

well we are here!! we love some things, and are trying to get use to other things.

In the south no one is in a hurry, or wants to get things done. we stood in line at target (the only target) for at least 20 mins while the couple ahead of us looked at their receipt and the ad and checked everything. Guess what the corporation knows the sales they are doing and everything was right!! omg!!! ok so i tell jason to breath, patience is a virtue and the south will teach it to us! of course jason is saying lets just leave our stuff on the belt and leave! (man, they would know we were yankee's then)! but i think the only thing that bothered me in this situation was no one said "sorry" "this will only take a min" i think if i would have been aknowledged I would have been fine, but where is this southern hospitality I have heard about for the past 10 years.. I've realized after finally talking (a real talk, not a nod or good day) with a lovely couple form jason's work. Guess what they aren't from around here, either!! that it's now southern politeness not hospitality. they don't want to talk to you they dont care, but they will smile and wave!! I've never talked to one of my neighbors but they all smile and wave!!
and i'm sure y'all are waiting for me to say the bugs, they africa size bugs!! palmeto bugs don't bother me thats right i said it, i think its because it's the one thing everyone kept warning be about, i know they aren't roaches and theres not much you can do about them they dont bug you, they run like lighting away from you, our house has been sprayed inside so the only ones inside are dead and the 2 ones weve seen make it in of course i make jason take care of, there are just some things a girl should not have to do!! but then there are fire ants WTF i hate them!! i guess my number one fav thing which is not wearing shoes is going to have to change the 2 times i didnt wear shoes i got bit! the feel like your on fire i guess thats how they get the name!! :) the coolest bug i've seen is a red velvet any aka the cow killer... I had to look it up they are beautifull they are bright red and fuzzy looking like velvet they are considered a wasp without wings. they say to leave them alone they do some good (hopefully not killing cows, beef is expensive enough here) but they are really cool looking!! we also have lizards by far the coolest thing out there, they love hot spots and my metal flower pots seem to be a fav. they are cute and have little personalities!! unfurnatly one did not make it, one day our pups are sleeping with the windows open and the fans on (they love it here) i look out the front door and i see a cat. great clyde is going to break the door and kill this gray silky (i can has cheezburger kind) cat. so i slowly put the dogs in the bedroom and go try to scare this cat off, hit the door ect. but then i notice its eating a lizard thats right it had already eaten half of it it was down to the front legs and head. of course the first thing i think of is i have to go get my camera!! take a few shots and call jason to tell him there is something else now that i can't pick up, heads of dead lizards!!!

ok thats really all i don't like, and I feel after a year or so maybe people will talk to us, maybe the yankee smell will be off us!! :)

the things I LOVE!! I love that the big article on the front page of the paper Sunday was the wiener dog races on river street that kicked off octoberfest! they had interiews with the dogs of course the had the winers listed i laughed at the fact that the only one's they said where they were from were the ones from the south, i'm asuming the otheres were from that other country called the north. after reading the whole add and gigling i thought man i love it here!!
also on the way to our first couple dinner on the other side of our neighborhood I looked up and realized I AM NEVER LEAVING HERE i had told jason that since this neighborhood is sooo upity that if no one decorates i'm leaving as soon as our lease is up. Well to my great surprise halloween in savannah is a HUGE deal and the more money you have the more decorations you got!!! If anyone can please come down before halloween, it is awsome! one huge house has a spider the size of a geo metro crawling down from the roof onto the front porch, so creepy looking! there are ghosts gouls and witches everywhere!! they have lights , window displays, motorized everything!! I LOVE IT!! I want to go drive around every night to look and see if there is any more!!!!!
and of course the weather is the big love here, its fall now high's in the upper 70's lows in the 50's or 60's and they (the one person i got to talk to me, a hairdresser, i guess i had to pay her!) say that it stays like this till january before it changes for a few weeks of chilly weather!!! PLEASE lets never move! but i know this is aviation and we will, but man do i love it here!!

thanks for reading, i've started us a picasa its

cooler cake

This is a cake I made for a friends husband's 40th birthday. It's a notre dame beer cooler. Hope you all like it. everything is edible! the little decal is made out of chocolate. the ice cubes are made of sugar and corn syrup heated to a hard crack and then cooled in ice trays. Jason did the carving for me!! which is why it looks so good!! He also came up with the idea of setting the cake in the grass which is made out of butter cream icing!!!!
